H Music & Rock Diszkont Release Information

Hungary’s most popular and well-known folk metal band with soaring male and gracious female vocals, epic choirs and perfect balance between folk and metal instrumentation.

Dalriada (formerly Echo of Dalriada) has been a Hungarian folk metal band. Its predecessor Steelium was formed in 1998 in Sopron and had been renamed into Echo of Dalriada in February 2003. This name was shortened to Dalriada with their third album “Kikelet” in 2007.

Their 10th album “Nyárutó” (Late Summer) was released in January 2018. It takes its title from the folksy name of a month, following the previous concept – August was also referred to as the month of the “Nyárutó”.

The result is unified, ambitious and in its musical solutions at times evoking the wildness of the early albums, deeply imbued with the influence and power of Hungarian folk music and cultural treasures.

The themes include a saga from the time of the founding of the Hungarian state, a saga from the time of St. Stephen, an ancient Hungarian folk “rege”, a song about the medieval Hungarian witch trials, and a two-movement song in memory of the “Hungarian El Cid”, the Turkish-battling soldier György Thury, one of the most important figures in the Hungarian armies fighting the Ottoman conquest of 16th century Europe.

The Fajkusz Banda also played a significant role in the album, helping to further strengthen the folk music ties of the Nyárutó album with their authentic Hungarian string music.
