Limited edition of Krystyna Prońko’s debut album, released on orange vinyl.

The first solo album recorded by Krystyna Prońko was released in April 1975. The album consisted mainly of compositions by Janusz Koman, who was collaborating with the singer at the time, as well as songs by Seweryn Krajewski, Katarzyna Gärtner and Jerzy Milian. Krystyna Prońko is accompanied by the excellent Koman Band, the vocal group Partita and the Polish Radio Orchestra conducted by Jan Pruszak.

The raucous, minimalist cover with a photograph by Tomasz Sikora says a lot about how expressive this material is. Prońko entered the Polish scene with such bravado and emotion in her voice that she could have shared with at least a few other performers. “This voice “sounds” in every song,” wrote Antoni Dobrzański in “Panorama” in 1975. “She is able to capture the attention of the listener, to fascinate. But one listens to Krystyna Prońko not only for her voice, she captivates with her whole personality: this is the kind of singing which stands on the borderline of acting and stage performance. Prońko plays consciously, committing herself to every bar, every note. Her vocals are extremely varied, always different, never banal”.

This can still be heard on Krystyna Prońko’s debut album. You can hear musicality and complete control over the voice, and most importantly, but also most elusive: feeling. Krystyna Prońko simply feels what she sings. And she feels it in a unique way.
