Polish Jazz Vol. 46
Here is “Kujaviak Goes Funky”, an album recorded by the Zbigniew Namysłowski Quintet in March 1975 and released later that year as volume 46 of the “Polish Jazz” series. It has been one of the most important items in this series and the Polish jazz discography in general. The title suite, as a masterpiece of formal compatibility of a jazz composition with the Polish idiom, has become a benchmark for all close encounters between folklore and other music.
The album “Kujaviak Goes Funky” has been a big hit. A “Jazz Forum” critics’ poll ranked it as the third best Polish jazz album of all time, behind “Astigmatic” by Komeda Quintet and “Winobranie”, also by Zbigniew Namysłowski Quintet. In the first 20 years since its release, it was reissued by Polskie Nagrania and three other publishers.

b) Appenzeller’s Dance
1. Smutny Jasio / Sad Little Johnny 7:05
2. Quiet Afternoon 6:00
3. Zabłąkana owieczka / Little Lamb Lost 7:10
