Kalemegdan Disk Release Information

Omega started as a Beat Band in 1962. After releasing a couple of singles they recorded their first LP in 1968. As soon as you will have got through the “shocking” title track of “Trombitás Frédi és a rettenetes emberek” (“Trumpet Player Fredi and the Horrible People”), you will find yourself surrounded by innocent beat with beautiful melodies and a shy guitar, mixed with underground sounds and a first bit of progressive rock.

All the tracks on the album were rooted in the tradition of The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Kinks with influences from Hungarian folk music. It sported a wide diversity of instruments (strings, flute, sitar, trumpet). The original LP was released shortly after their English debut album on Decca. Please note that both albums are different albums and do not just contain Hungarian and English lyrics on top of the same instrumental recording. The bonus tracks contain Omega’s first three singles with own compositions from 1967 and 1968 (A & B sides).
