The famous rock project, again on vinyl. And Roman Dragoun will be 65!

Brno’s centre of art rock music was quite fundamental at least from the mid-70s to the mid-80s. And Progres 2 was a top representative of studio and stage projects. “Třetí kniha džunglí” (The Third Jungle Book) continued the previous albums with the intensity of the theme, a hefty dose of guitars by Miloš Morávek and vocals/keyboards by Roman Dragoun. The foundation in the form of drummer, singer, bandleader and producer Zdeněk Kluka and bassist Pavel Pelc thus received a strong new impetus. The exclusive lyricist this time was the experienced Vladimír Čort.

It was recorded in the musician-friendly Slovak studio Pezinok in 1981 and released the following year. Probably the most famous songs, even hits, became “Muž, který se podobá odvrácené straně měsíce” (The Man Who Resembles the Upside of the Moon) or “Neznámé nevpouštěj dál” (Unknown Don’t Let Me in,) but actually all songs and instrumental areas form a unique whole.

The reissue has received an author-supervised remastering. The cover artwork was reconstructed by Vaclav Houf, using his own original period material. The sleevenote by František Horáček, photographs by Jef Kratochvíl and the complete song lyrics have been preserved. The result is an interesting reissue title, confirming the past extraordinariness and present functionality of this great music. At the same time, it is a small birthday present to Roman Dragoun, a great vocal and keyboard personality with a major contribution far beyond “Třetí kniha džunglí” (The Third Jungle Book).
