Škwor celebrates twenty years and releases a new album!

To celebrate twenty years of the band’s existence, the Prague rock band Škwor is releasing the new album “Uzavřenej kruh” (Closed Circle). It is the eighth studio opus and presents Škwor as a star of the genre and the top of the Czech rock elite. The album was again produced in their home studio by Leo Holan, who is also behind the final sound of the 13 new tracks. “Uzavřenej kruh” (Closed Circle) is this time harder and more “pedal to the metal” than the previous studio album “Hledání identity” (Searching for Identity), but there are also the traditional ballads with an acoustic sound.

Over the two decades of its existence, Škwor has developed its own sound, which is today its hallmark, as well as the lyrics of Petr Hrdlička, the band’s frontman. The songs are straightforward, easy to understand and thematically based on the events around us, from commonly perceived social issues to the most intimate human relationships. When writing songs, the band is not bound by anything, they have no specific agreement or uniform concept, the songs are simply created according to the mood and atmosphere of the moment.

But what the band traditionally honours is melodicism, and Škwor doesn’t shy away from that on the new album. Future hits seem to be the almost stadium-sounding “Omyly a pády” (Mistakes and Falls), the single “Za tmavejch nocí” (For Dark Nights) or the songs “Starej voják” (Old Soldier) and “Pokřivenej pohled” (Crooked View), introduced by the band before the album’s release.

Škwor will have several major events in the coming months with the new album, culminating in a birthday concert on 9 November 2018 at the O2 Arena. Before that, however, the band will embark on its biggest tour of the country yet next spring to present the new album as part of the Uzavřenej kruh Tour 2018.
