Album debut full of hits = tribute to country music

This year’s eightieth birthday of Jan Vyčítal and seventy-fifth birthday of Michal Tučný are far from the only reason for this reissue. The first album of the Greenhorns is undoubtedly one of the most important items in the history of our country music. By that time the band had already accumulated a lot of experience and songs, so the long-playing gramophone start turned straight into a supply of hits. Probably the most famous line-up offered not only the distinctive singers Tučný, Hoffmann and Linka, but also the outstanding instrumental personalities Vyčítal, Šimek, Čermák, Štýbro, Dobeš, Kral and Hnyk. Their paths later branched off in various ways, but the essence remained the same: excellent music.

In this case, the exclusively adopted repertoire was added to the domestic authenticity by lyricists directly from Greenhorns, especially Vyčítal, but also Hoffmann and Čermák. Also from the band’s sources, the cover, created by J. Šimek, using drawings by J. Vyčítal and photography by F. Heřman, hides gems of the brilliance of “Blues Folsomské věznice” (Folsom Prison Blues), “Oranžový expres” (Orange Blossom Special), “Blízko Little Big Hornu” (Jim Bridger Story) or “Když náš táta hrál” (When Papa Played the Dobro). The songs are so famous that you don’t have to be a fan of the genre directly to like them. The melodies, lyrics, singers and musicians are part of the memories of all who lived through that time, as well as those who still can’t avoid listening to them and singing them pleasantly around the campfire.

The carefully re-edited LP features the album’s essential 12 songs with remastered sound, all packaged in a lyrically and photographically attractive cover.
