Domácí Kapela is the ensemble of Jan Brabec, who drummed in 1977-1987 and briefly after the “reunion” in 1997 with The Plastic People of the Universe, before that he played with DG 307. Domácí Kapela had its concert debut in 1991, although the first songs were released as early as 1988. The music has a distinctly rock base, yet is very artistic, with hints of art rock of the seventies and the alternative Rock in the opposition movement; and of course it is also intertwined like an umbilical cord with the former, one could say “original” sound of the legend of the Czechoslovakian underground.

“On the ground plan of the song, Domácí Kapela has precisely and with an eye for detail built a vocal-instrumental building, which in its darkness and almost sublime secrecy resembles a crematorium.” The reissue of the CD, which Domácí Kapela released as their second effort in the early 1990s, is now enhanced by a second, live CD, and a bonus recording from the compilation “Újezd” (The Trip, 1993). At the time of its release, Ivan Hartman wrote of the recording, “Brabec’s musical thinking is marked by his years in the underground and in many ways directly relates to the work of the Plastic People, for whom Brabec drummed for eleven years beginning in 1977. In fact, Jan Brabec became a direct successor to the Plastic People music after its sole author Milan Hlavsa switched to another rock horse years ago.”
