A dedication to the king of funk by the HRT Jazz Orchestra

The “Tribute to Dino Dvornik concert” performed by the HRT Jazz Orchestra and guests took place as part of the “Suncana strana Prisavlja” (Sunny Side of Prisavlje) project.

Encouraged by the successful performances and audience reactions, the HRT Jazz Orchestra, in cooperation with the vocal and instrumental soloists who joined them at the concert, decided to record the same repertoire and enable a wider audience to enjoy the anthology hits of the legendary musician in new arrangements. Since the end of last year, the album has been available on streaming platforms, it was published in co-publishing by Croatia Records and HRT, and from today the physical edition is also on sale.

The Jazz Orchestra of Croatian Radio and Television under the direction of the conductor and presenter Miron Hauser paid tribute to the inimitable Croatian king of funk with performances of his all-time hits from the “Tribute to Dino Dvornik Concert” such as “Pelin i med” (Wormwood and Honey), “Ti si mi u mislima” (You Are on My Mind), “Ja bih preživio” (I Would Survive), “Zašto praviš slona od mene” (Why Are You Making an Elephant out of Me), and “Jace manijace” (Stronger maniacs). Helena Bastic, Nina Badric, Ervin Baucic, Nikola Marjanovic, Sabrina Hebiri, Mario Huljev, Igor Geržina, Valerija Nikolovska and Ivana Kindl performed these songs as soloists.

Fifteen years have passed since the premature departure of Dino Dvornik, whose style, versatility, energy, innovation, musicality and individuality brought previously unimagined innovations to Yugoslavian music, pushed boundaries and set new production standards. The Jazz Orchestra of the Croatian Radio and Television, the only professional band of its kind in Croatia, with its continuous activity for more than seven and a half decades, ranks among the longest-running big bands in the world. It was founded in the 1946/1947 season. as Plesni Orkestar Radio Zagreba (The Dance Orchestra of Radio Zagreb) for the needs of radio broadcasts and recordings, and eventually began to perform publicly. In addition to participating in a series of public shows and independent concerts in the country and abroad, they also hold their own concert cycle, as well as various collaborations with current musicians and in dedications to the biggest legends of the regional and world music scene.
