Three legendary albums in an epic package, plus on stage again this year

Few of us are unfamiliar with the Olympic albums “Prázdniny na Zemi” (Holiday on Earth), “Ulice” (The Street) and “Laboratoř” (Laboratory). At the turn of the seventies and eighties, they were among the most interesting rock-pop to hear and see in our country. Ecological, interpersonal and sci-fi themes (complete lyrics by Zdeněk Rytíř, music by Petr Janda) took the form of complete recordings with selected hits, but above all with extremely coherent music performed by a band in excellent form. All of this was supported by a generous stage set-up for the time and for Czechoslovakia. Sometimes in need of a bit of technological tinkering, but always visually and sonically sovereign, we were given strong doses of art rock, hard rock and modern electronica influenced music. All of which you can now be reminded of again.

The driving element of this reissue, Olympic expert Oldřich Zámostný, has prepared the original sound, often edited in the past, as well as the 24 pages of the LP-sized booklet. The latter is packed with lots of important background information and partly unknown photographs and documents. Along with the transparently colored vinyl, you also get a bonus CD containing variant or concert recordings with links to the original and multiple revival trilogy. A brand new song is the song “Kartotéka 2024” (The 2024 File Cabinet), both as a bonus on the CD and as a teaser for this year’s year-long tour based on the three albums.

This 3LP + CD is an absolute must-have for fans and an essential item for all (not only) memorabilia.
