GAD Records Release Information

“Przygoda, przygoda, każdej chwili szkoda…” (Adventure, adventure, every moment is precious...). The lyrics from the opening credits of the TV series “Do przerwy 0:1” (Until the Break 0:1) are from the still most famous song left behind by Wiślanie 69. The new edition of their only album, “Skąd my się znamy” (Where Do We Know each Other from), summarises the first two stages of the band’s career.

Wiślanie 69 (People from Wisła 69), created by Andrzej Tylczyński, a journalist and songwriter, appeared on the Polish scene in the late 1960s. He brought together musicians from the Białystok band Żółtodzioby (Greenhorns) and talented performers from other parts of the country to form a group that quickly made a name for itself on radio and television. In the first half of 1969, they also recorded their debut EP for Polskie Nagrania and songs for the TV series “Do przerwy 0:1” (Until the Break 0:1). Soon after, personnel changes began, thanks to which, at the end of the year, Elżbieta Żakowicz from Krakow was singing in Wiślanie 69, accompanied by leading musicians from the Silesian scene, including vocalist Janusz Hryniewicz (later in SBB) and drummer Stefan Płaza (later in Breakout).

With its new line-up, the band recorded its debut album, full of charming songs on the borderline between pop and soul (five of them were composed by Andrzej Korzyński, who had previously worked with Andrzej Tylczyński on Piotr Szczepanik’s big hits). In the autumn of 1970, the band left for the Netherlands, disappearing from the Polish scene for nine months.

The new reissue of “Skąd my się znamy” collects recordings made for Polskie Nagrania and Telewizja Polska in the first two years of the band’s existence.
